Petrina’s Story
Petrina: In summer 2014 sat in a small windowless room in the heart of Manhattan, NYC I was diagnosed with Cancer while my 5 month old son peacefully slept in his car seat. I remember looking at my husband baffled that this could actually be happening.
I didn’t know anyone with cancer and I couldn’t find anyone online that I could relate to. Big organizations provided medical advice but didn’t put a face to the disease that was running rampant through my life. There were no lightbulb moments of connection where I thought “me too!”, no buddy I could check in with to talk about my lousy day / my great day / my medical procedures / share experiences and ask questions.
